Lewis-Palmers basketball season ends with celebration

Both varsity basketball teams are going to playoffs. However this is the end of the basketball season of 2021-2022 for the boys and girls JV and C Team.

Some of the players are sad that the season is over like Tommy Perez 9 who is on the boys C Team this year.

“I am kinda sad not gonna lie. It was a really fun season” said Perez.

For most of them it has some good points. Indeed they can have more freetime again and focus more on school or other hobbies. Monika Schaffer 10 and the girls JV team share this point of view.

“Its obviously sad not to be with your teammates every day. But having time to work individually and take a break will just help us get better and Im excited for next season,” said Schaffer

William Simpfendorfer 10 was on JV this year and is happy about the end of the season. He has been injured and couldn’t play for the past two months. He dislocated his knee and tore the cartilage and had to be on crutches for 10 weeks.

“I mean, this year for me has kind of been like a drag. I would say, like, just with last year being a short season, I was kind of used to the season being less than two months long,” said Simpfendorfer “And especially with me being hurt. its been getting kind of boring to me”.

Even if for some players its a good thing that the season is over, it doesn’t mean that it wasn’t fun. This basketball season is going to leave good memories in everybody’s mind.

“Definitely when Thatcher broke a double team and dumped it right between someones legs,” said Perez.

Not all the memories are linked with the basketball games and practices. Most of the players just enjoy being on the team and spending time with their teammates.

“Probably fight nights, like off the court. Probably when we would get together for Team meals and wrestle,” said Schaffer.

Next years players are ready to work hard for the next years season. Hannah Wagner 9 is going to practice basketball out of season just to be ready for the next one.

“Just gonna work my butt off before the season,” said Wagner” I want to improve and to hopefully make varsity.”
