Leonardo DiCaprio is a world renowned actor whose performances have amazed viewers for years. Nineteen years ago, the movie Titanic, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, was released and DiCaprio missed out on the Oscar award for his performance. Although DiCaprio has been granted many awards, he never won an Oscar until 2016.

On February 28th, Leonardo DiCaprio won the Oscar that has avoided him for nineteen years. DiCaprio won Best Actor in a Leading Role for his part as a man named Hugh Glass in the movie The Revenant. In this movie, Hugh Glass is attacked by a bear while on a hunting trip; then, he is abandoned by his fellow hunters. Glass must utilize his survival skills in order to endure the harsh forces of nature and make it home to his family.

“I don’t think I ever expected anything like an Oscar ever, to tell you the truth. That is not my motivation when I do these roles. I really am motivated by being able to work with great people and create a body of work that I can look back and be proud of,” Leonardo DiCaprio said in his acceptance speech at the Oscars.

Nicholas Moore, however, is not a very big fan. He believes that Leonardo DiCaprio did not deserve the oscar.

“I just don’t think this movie was as good as other movies this year. Matt Damon should have won the oscar for his part in the movie The Martian. Sure Dicaprio has waited a long time for this award but Matt Damon did a way better job than him,” Moore said.

Many people thought that Matt Damon’s part in The Martian, or Tom Hardy for his part in Mad Max: Fury Road would be the winner of the Best Actor in a Leading Role. However, Dicaprio won in the end despite all of the critics.
