Advanced placement classes have helped many students find out what they’re interested in and has helped them figure out what they would like to pursue in their future.

Ms. Dellinger, who teaches AP Language and Composition, claims “AP classes are important because they could give students an opportunity to get credit or possibly get them a chance to get a head start on what college is like because they might duplicate a college atmosphere or they might do some college level work in a high school environment.”  Ashley McAmis, 10, says “It gives you a sense of how college classes are going to be so you develop that work ethic and what it’s going to be like in college.”

The AP classes move quickly, getting many topics achieved throughout the semester.“I like the faster pace of the AP class, I like the higher level thinking that is done in the AP class and I really like the material.” Dellinger says.

Our school has many AP class options to get the interest of the students. Having so many AP subjects also means that even if a student isn’t interested in a certain subject, they have the choice to choose a subject that they would be interested in, would challenge them and maybe even get them college credit. And even if you don’t have a specific interest in one of the classes, you might even enjoy it. “You don’t have to necessarily love English to take this class. This class gets a lot of people who are more math and science people but because we do more science fiction type things you don’t have to be a lover of literature,” says Ms. Dellinger.

So maybe if you don’t exactly love literature or a certain subject, you might want to join one of the classes. You could get college credit, college experience, getting to learn about something you’re interested in, and you get to push
