Village Inn is a diner chain located all around the United States. First established in Denver Colorado in 1958, they serve pies, pancakes, and other foods. After homecoming, football games, and other activities, the Village Inn in Monument, Colorado was a hot spot for a lot of high school students to come get a quick bite to eat with friends. Restaurants all across Colorado have been closing down recently, including one located in Monument, Colorado.

On January 24, 2020, Village Inn located off of Highway 105 in Monument had officially closed for good. Employees showed up to work Friday morning shocked when they had seen they no longer had a job. 

This is not the only Village Inn that had closed without notice; it was one of 33 other restaurants in the US. According to the owners of this restaurant chain, they had closed it down due to bankruptcy. 

“After very careful consideration, we have made the tough but necessary decision to discontinue operations at this location,” said a Village Inn spokesman from a KKTV 11 news report.

The closing not only disappointed customers in the area, but it had also caused some problems with the employees. In a statement from a Village Inn spokesman, he mentions that everyone who had lost their jobs will be offered a position at another location or severance packages.

“This is never an easy decision to make and one driven by many business factors. It is important to note that all employees who desire to stay with the company will be relocated to another location in the market or will be provided a severance package,” said a Village Inn spokesman from the same report.
