On October 5th, Lewis-Palmer volleyball took on Vista Ridge. Going into the game, Lewis-Palmer was undefeated with a 14-0 record, while Vista Ridge had a record of 5-13.

Lewis-Palmer was expected to win, being ranked 1st in not only division 4A volleyball, but also in the state. McKenna Sciacca 11, a setter for Lewis-Palmer, talked about how she and her team have been preparing for the rest of their season.

“We’ve been working really hard to maintain the undefeated streak we have,” Sciacca said.

Addie Feek 11 played all three sets against Vista Ridge, and she is a middle blocker for Lewis-Palmer. She talked about what her team wants to focus on when going into their games.

“We try to work on different skills on our side of the net, and we want to stay focused on who we are,” Feek said. “We’ve really come together and have been working so hard to have a super competitive season, as we’ve been having thus far.”

This years’ varsity team consists of five seniors, six juniors, and two sophomores. Gianna Bartalo, the libero for Lewis-Palmer, is one of the two sophomores on the team and talked about how she feels the team is doing this season.

“We haven’t dropped a game yet, which is awesome, but our main priority and focus right now is just making sure we work hard and have fun,” Bartalo said.

Vista Ridge was first to score in the first set, but the Rangers quickly took back the lead. The beginning of the set had a lot of points being made back and forth, but the Rangers took the first set 25-9.

Vista Ridge was not able to stay ahead in a set for long before Lewis-Palmer took the lead back. Both teams put up a fight with Lewis-Palmer looking to continue their winning streak, and Vista Ridge hoping to obtain another win after beating Falcon at their previous game.

Lewis-Palmer quickly leapt ahead of Vista Ridge in the second set. Vista Ridge was able to tie up the score, but could not take the lead. Lewis-Palmer took the second set 25-11.

Lewis-Palmer won the third set. Vista Ridge got points on the board, but it was not enough to beat Lewis-Palmer. Lewis-Palmer also took the third set 25-11.

There had been doubts whether the team was going to be able to play as well as they did last year, given they lost three seniors, Lydia Bartalo, Elizabeth Reich, and Michaela Putnicki. Lewis-Palmer however, is showing that they are still a strong team this year through their undefeated record.
