Griffin Greenwood 12 is a senior at Lewis-Palmer High school and plays basketball for their Varsity team. She has been playing basketball for 14 years in school and club.

“I have been playing basketball since I was 3 years old, so for 14 years. I started club basketball in 5th grade and have done it ever since,” Greenwood said.

Basketball is Greenwood’s sport because she loves the competitive and aggressive side of the game. She likes to get offensive. She likes that the sport requires strength, energy and brain-power.

“I like being able to be super aggressive and hustle a lot on the court. And I feel it takes a lot of coordination and smarts to play basketball well. I always fell in love with being aggressive on the court and having the ability to use my strength to battle against people,” Greenwood said.

In her freetime or off season Griffin Greenwood likes to play piano and sing to free her mind. To challenge herself and her brain she also likes to do puzzle related things and games.

“Besides playing basketball, I am a pianist so I like to play piano and sing in my free time. I have a very puzzle minded brain so I play a lot of games and do a lot of puzzle kind of things to challenge my brain,” Greenwood said.

With being the only senior on the team and the captain of varsity, Greenwood has certain responsibilities. She tries to keep the team’s mood positive and to be as supportive as possible. She tries to set a good example for everyone by being hard working.

“I’m pretty much in charge of keeping the team positive, upbeat and holding everyone accountable by setting a good standard with myself and being a good role model to all of them,” Greenwood said.“ And being the only senior I get to establish that standard of hard work and always staying disciplined that hopefully all the younger grades look up to.”

After graduating High School Greenwood is going to go to the Air Force Academy for basketball and wants to study something STEM related. She is excited to spend a lot of time with the team at the Academy and also for the amount of time she will spend on basketball in comparison to high school.

“I’m going to the Air Force Academy for basketball and I have no idea what I’m going to major in but something science or math related. The amount of time I’m gonna have to spend on the sport and I feel like on the college level I’m going to get a lot stronger because I’m with them everyday, and we physically are getting stronger because we are lifting weights,” Greenwood said.” I’m excited to  be able to travel and be super close with my team since we will spend a lot of time together.”
