Problem with Postponed Prom

The past week has been non-stop talk about prom being postponed. Many students, as well as parents, felt that the cancellation due to weather was unnecessary and that the decision was rushed.

The sudden change of plans put a lot of students out. From hair appointments, to rearranging reservations, to paying extra money for boutonnières, everyone felt a bit of frustration and disappointment.

Students weren’t the only ones who were put out because of this decision. Many parents set up a lot of after prom decorations and they had to take everything down on Friday. Also, because other events are scheduled at Lewis-Palmer, after prom has been moved to Bear Creek Elementary.

Although prom being postponed was a problem for a lot of people, for some it worked out for the better. One concern about prom was that track would have a meet the same day and some people wouldn’t be able to go, however, there didn’t end up being a track meet.

“I was bummed at first, but now I’m happy because we don’t have a meet after,” said senior Nicole Montgomery.

Even though at the time almost everyone was disappointed because of the decision made about prom being postponed, people have now come to terms. Waiting another two weeks just builds the excitement for prom, which in the end, will make prom more fun.Prom Dresses
