As the choir members of Lewis-Palmer High School filed into the dark auditorium, the audience went silent. When the members of the four Lewis-Palmer choirs opened their mouths, the sound of beautiful harmonies filled the room.

The fall choir concert took place on Thursday, October 29. The many high schoolers who participated worked for hours on end to make sure that their songs were perfectly sung.

The annual fall concert is a special concert- it is the first choir concert of the year where all of the choirs participate. There are four LPHS choirs that sang in the concert: Mixed Choir, Chamber Choir, Mo-Town Pipes, and Treble Voices.

The first choir that sang was the MIxed Choir. This is the “beginner’s choir”, though they sounded like they had been singing together for years. They wowed the crowd with an upbeat arrangement of “Amazing Grace” and the classic, hauntingly beautiful “Scarborough Fair.”

Next came Mo-Town pipes. Audience members could tell that Mo-Town pipes was special. It is an all male choir that meets every morning at 7 a.m. Mo-Town Pipes is not a class someone can take in school, but it truly shows someone’s dedication to choir that they meet every morning before school. They  once again astonished the crowd with a beautiful song called “Dust in the Wind,” among other arrangements.

Once Mo-Town Pipes had finished, the Chamber Singers joined them on the stage. Chamber Singers is an auditioned-for choir, and consists of both young men and women.

“Chamber voices is an amazing choir,” Jessica Allen, 9, said. “Our songs were really fun to sing.”

One of their most popular songs was “What Time is It?”, a jazzy song featuring many soloists, including Allen.

“Our songs were all really pretty. “What Time is It” was probably my favorite,” Allen recounted.

Finally, the Treble Voices choir took the stage. Treble Voices is the top choir at LP, and is an entirely female choir. Those in Treble Voices had to audition for a spot on the choir.

“I have been in Treble Voices since my Junior year., Kaiti Moore, 12, said. “Our songs are always really beautiful.”

In four-part harmony, their beautiful strains echoed through the auditorium. Some of their songs were “Gloria” and “Lei Lei Lei”. The fact that these songs were sang in different languages only made the Treble Voices choir seem more impressive.
As fall ends, the LPHS choirs celebrate the successful completion of the first concert of the year, and begin new songs for the winter performance.
