Materials you will need: 6 pieces of 8.5”x11” paper, scissors, and clear tape

Step 1: Take a piece of paper and fold one corner across to the opposite corner so that it matches up to make a triangle. Then cut off the extra rectangle part at the bottom and unfold the paper to make sure you have a perfect 8.5”x8.5” square.

Step 2: Once you’ve checked that your paper is a square, fold it back again so that you have a triangle. Then fold that triangle in half. To make things easier, position your triangle in front of you so that the longest side of the triangle is on the right, the folded part is along the top, and the 2 flaps are along the bottom.

Step 3: Take your scissors and cut 5 vertical slits starting from the bottom edge (the side with 2 flaps). Make sure there’s equal space in between slits, and stop cutting a little before you reach the top edge (the folded side).

Step 4: Unfold your triangle so that you have a square again. It should now look like this:

Step 5: Now tape the inner most flaps together by their corners.

Step 6: Flip your paper over and tape the next inner most flaps together by their corners.

Step 7: Continue to flip your paper over and tape each set of flaps together until you end up with this:

Step 8: Now you have successfully made one of the 6 parts of a snowflake! Repeat steps 1 through 8 for the remaining 5 pieces of paper.

Step 9: Now simply tape your 6 parts together by their edges and in the center to complete your snowflake.

Step 10: Congratulations! You’ve now made a three-dimensional snowflake! Some cool ways you can decorate with these is by either hanging them by a window or making smaller ones to use as ornaments for your Christmas tree.
