In order to build a craps table, the layout must be known. The frame is pretty simple to build. Start with a 1’x4’x8’ piece of plywood for under the playing space. This will be the base, with the rest of the frame and the cup holders around the outside edge.
The next thing that is needed is 4 pieces of ¾”x4x8 particle board. Particle board is very strong and very strait, making the outside of the frame easier to make. The frame should look like the picture when finished.
Once the frame is finished, then you must buy the felt. Felts come in every color, making the playing field easier to customize. The playing field can also be bought online; the only deterrent is that the felt is about 150 dollars.
The next step in building a craps table is painting the felt. There are many different ways to make the felt: there are many pictures that are printable online. Use masking tape to make the lines as straight as possible then paint inside the lines with white. When the lines are done, then use stencils to write the words; such as, the Come Bar or the Pass Line.
When the railing is done, get any kind of foam that is available to put under the leather cover. The leather cover can be stitched. It is hard to pull the leather around the corners, so stich a crease into the leather.
When the table is finished, it is easy to put it onto a fold up table. It should fit right onto the table because the table is 8 feet long.
