For the past two weeks the high tech space has been closed because of vandalism. At Lewis-Palmer High School the high tech space is a place to go and study or relax during lunch or an off period.
On Monday October 21, 2013 the high tech space was closed.
Students were very upset because it is a popular destination for students to gather and work on homework or research. The high tech is closed during third and seventh hour because that is when the most vandalism was being done.
“High tech is closed because we had a vandalism incident and it has been left with trash. We found that the greatest damage was happening during third and seventh period. High tech will be closed for at least two weeks,” said Sandi Brandl principle at Lewis-Palmer High School.
Students that have third or seventh period off did not have anywhere to go study. The school recommended that they go to the library for a quiet place to work.
Students that were at lunch are told to stay in the commons for lunch. Some students who ate in high tech with friends that are upper classmen were not allowed to anymore.
Most students were irritated to find out this bad news and were frustrated that they were punished for others kids’ mistakes.
Lewis-Palmer’s administrators are trying to find a way to let the kids with off periods in high tech while keeping the vandalism from continuing.
