St. Patrick’s day is Monday, March 17th.

St. Patrick’s Day may be one of the most understated, overly – American holidays, but there certainly are ways that anyone can make sure their day is full of green. While St. Patrick’s day is celebrated in the country it originated from, Ireland, it is still wildly more popular in  America. Every March 17^th people celebrate a holiday founded by St. Patrick and is remembered as a day to cherish Irish culture. Here are some how-to’s for anybody who wants to have a little fun on the day we commemorate the Irish.

First, it is important to know the reason people wear green on this annual holiday. Catholics originally wore green in Ireland to distinguish between themselves and Protestants, but now wearing green on St. Patrick’s Day has become the norm. Ireland is also associated with green in more ways than one. The “Emerald Isle” and the color of Ireland’s flag is also related to the reason we wear green on St. Patrick’s day to remember the patron saint. So, as a result put on   the best green dress, green shirt, green hat, or anything else related to Ireland and get together with some friends.

Next, make meal plans. Any Irish person will say that the traditional Irish meal includes corned beef, boiled cabbage, peeled potatoes, and of course a Guinness. Even though most of us are too young to enjoy a proper Irish beverage, there are many drinks better suited for people under twenty one.
