Charlie Young, a sophomore at Lewis-Palmer High School, recently set a record for most rushing yards in a single football game. This means that he carried the ball 331 yards total throughout a game. The record had been held by 1988 graduate Scott Phillips, a running back and middle linebacker, since 1987.

In the game against D’Evelyn High School, Young a fullback on the varsity football team, broke the previous record of 27 years.

“Even though we lost the game, a week later it was still exciting (to have made a new record)” Young said.

Young, number 44, had been playing for several years and this was his second year on the football team. He also was a part of both the basketball and track teams.

Like every other teen, he enjoys hanging out with his friends, eating food and also plays StarCraft the video game.

Although the game against D’Evelyn High School resulted in a 34-33 loss, it was an outstanding achievement not only for Young but the entire football team.
