Lewis-Palmer High School has a new student that is not just new to Colorado, but to the United States as well. Farhana Samad (11) is an exchange student from Indonesia. Coming from a culture so different from the U.S, Samad is highly anticipating many new experiences. One of those experiences is snow.
“I have never seen snow before, just rain and sun every day. But in America, I am really, really excited for the snow,” Samad said.
She is also looking forward to participating in the homecoming events. In Indonesia, they do not have a lot of parties quite like homecoming, especially when it comes to the couple aspect that comes with most American dances. Samad did not attend with a date, but went with a group of friends instead.
Although Colorado and Indonesia have multiple other differences besides weather and dances, Samad embraces those differences and is enjoying her experience here. So much so, she could not think of one negative aspect about her time spent here so far.
“It’s all the best experience. I just have one year to experience all of these amazing things. My best (experience) is probably that I have a lovely host family. They accepted me like their family,” Samad said.
