The saxophone is a soulful instrument known for influencing those who not only play, but also those who hear it, so it is no surprise that Zach Vasquez a Lewis-Palmer performer in our very own jazz band, was recently accepted to the U.S. Marine Corps band.

As the first person in over ten years to be accepted into the Marine Corps Band from Colorado under the age of eighteen

He will be playing with many other talented musicians from around the United States.

“Music to me is a way of life, and people will always be able to enjoy it,” Vasquez said.

Zach has been playing for just about eight years and his love for music hasn’t changed.

He is currently a senior at Lewis-Palmer High School and plays the saxophone and clarinet in the school band.

“When I first found out that I was accepted, I took a sigh of relief, and im glad that my hard work finally paid off,” Vasquez said.

What started as a hobby to keep him busy has turned into a lifestyle for Vaquez.

He does not know what specific part of the core he will be joining, but whatever it is he will be proudly representing Lewis-Palmer High School.
