For the last few days a major west coast storm has been dumping snow over the Colorado mountains. With up to twenty four inches expected in some places, the powder is predicted to be epic. Many skiers and snowboarders are planning to make it up to the slopes this weekend.

While just getting the opportunity to go skiing is incredible, others who always seem to be on the mountain usually prefer a nice amount of powder.

“Powder is always the best, it feels like you are floating on top of the clouds. Its even better to be out when it is snowing, so there is fresh powder every run,” Nate Bjurstrom, 9, said.

One of Colorado’s most popular ski areas, Copper Mountain, is expecting up to 20 inches of fresh snow. With just a 49 inch base snow amount, and only 187 inches of total snow amount this year, the snow is greatly needed. Even with the low and melting snow amounts this year, Copper is still a Colorado favorite.

“I’m really just in love with Copper. It has a little bit of everything, and I’ve been going there since I started snowboarding.” Bjurstrom, 9, said.

It really seems like the conditions could shape up to be somewhere near perfect, with new snow falling every day this week, and temperatures not high enough to melt it when it stops falling.
Even though the snow is falling, there will be an end to the storm, and hopefully mother nature keeps bringing more and more to the slopes. When it comes to snow in the mountains, there can never be too much.
