Hard Work for Spring Break

Mary Jane Nickel, Ranger Review Reporter

Whether students are staying home and relaxing over spring break or have plans to lounge on a tropical beach sipping out of a coconut, everyone seems to have plans. For freshman, Cloe Bender, spring break is an opportunity to improve as a volleyball player.

Bender has much more serious plans for over break. She is attending a volleyball camp with Colorado Juniors. The strenuous all day camp is four to five days a week, and on top of that she will be weight lifting.

Bender’s father is the executive director for U.S.A. wrestling team, so she has the opportunity to come to intensive weight training with Olympian wrestlers. Very few people have the privilege to work out at the Olympic training center and Bender plans to take full advantage of that over break to improve as an athlete.

“My favorite part about working out at the Olympic training center is how rigorous the workouts are and that they don’t take an easy on me just because I’m younger and I’m a girl. Also, they’re all really friendly guys and are always cracking jokes which makes it a lot of fun” says Bender.

Although almost everyone has many different plans for spring break, there are a few who are choosing to take full advantage of the time off from school to work hard. Bender is just one example of how Lewis-Palmer is full of hard working individuals.
