Former quarterback for the New England Patriots, Tim Tebow, signed a Major League Baseball contract to play for the New York Mets. This was made official as of August 2016. For the time being until the upcoming baseball season, which will begin in April 2017, Tebow has been playing for the minor league fall team in Arizona, Scottsdale Scorpions as there outfielder.

On the Scottsdale Scorpions, Tebow had 62 at bats with 6 runs with the 12 hits he had. Tebow was in most of the games with the team and was able to hold a decent average according to the seasons statistics of .194. This average was nowhere close to being in the top few of the team’s overall stats, however, was not the lowest. Tebow had 20 strikeouts, which is terrible according to Matt Snyder, a sports writer from CBS sports.

The Arizona Fall League (AFL) is one of the top fall leagues with many high end prospects viewing the players. During the fall league, Tebow was up against some of the top prospects in the game as said by Dieter Kurtenbach, a Fox Sports journalist. With this being said, many fans of the game will say how this is an embarrassment to the game and the New York Mets, who gave him a $100,000 bonus to play for the minor league team in Arizona.

Kevin Long, the New York Mets hitting coach, has been working with Tebow a lot in the past off season. Tebow has been seen with bandages on his hands from blisters from hitting so much. Taylor Ward, a first draft pick catcher, states “You can’t hit with your hands hurting and bleeding and all torn up.” however, Tebow continues to work on his hitting despite the blistered hands.

Tim Tebow has a work ethic in which no one can really understand. Tebow says in an interview with USA Today “ I do not think I am overdoing it quite yet. I’ll listen to wise counsel with that. But at the same time, you’ve got to understand what gives you your edge. And my edge is I want to be the first one there and the last one to leave.”

With this said, Tim Tebow, the all-star quarterback will continue to pursue his dream in playing baseball next despite all of the negative criticism. As many will notice with his playing in the AFL, he has not necessarily made a good stand in the game but will strive with his work ethic to make it as far as he can go.
