The Pro Bowl is a game played in the NFL, the week before the SuperBowl. The teams change from each player getting drafted onto a team, or AFC vs NFC.  The players on the team are usually the best at their position.  

There are a few reasons why the players would not be the best.  The number one reason is that some of the players that were offered a spot, denied it, for multiple reasons, one being having an injury.  The second is that the player that they really wanted is going to be in the super bowl and can’t risk getting hurt. With some of the best players not going, the game no longer is just the best of the best competing with each other.

The problem with this game is that people watch it but it’s not that exciting. Players don’t play hard because it’s a meaningless game and they don’t want to get hurt. And getting hurt playing a meaningless game would not be a good thing at all.  They really don’t even tackle one another. They mainly just shove each other out of bounds, or sometimes just will pick the other player up, and set him on the ground.

None of the players actually care about the outcome of the game. It’s just an outlet for the top players to get a little recognition. It’s almost just a way to let some of the players show off their individual skills.It’s just a fun way to end the season. In other sports such as baseball, the All Star game, the equivalent of the Pro Bowl, decides on who will get home field advantage the National League team or American League team.

All though not a lot of people watch it, some still do. Why? Because it’s football. With a two-week period with no other games, between the conference playoffs and the Super Bowl, what’s a fan suppose to do on the Sunday in between? So it’s almost just a last resort for the fan to watch some of their players from their favorite team to play again before the next season.  

The NFL makes money off ticket sales and things such as jerseys.  This is probably the biggest reason why the Pro Bowl is still around, even when people dislike it.  As long as they are making money off the event, then it’s not going to stop.  But with the ratings of the game going down each year, it’s just a matter of time before the Pro Bowl is no longer a thing.
