Lewis-Palmer High School’s football season is coming to an end with the last home game on Friday, November 3rd. Throughout the season, the team experienced defeat, with only three wins and six losses, and one game left on the schedule.

“It doesn’t feel great when you go three and six with one game to go. I think its rebuilding and we’re gonna have a pretty good team next year.” Kai Arneson 10, a varsity football player replied when asked how he felt about the 2017 season. Tyler Hysell 10, a junior varsity football player said “we could improve in a lot of parts and i feel like next year is going to be our year.”

Even though the season wasn’t what the players expected, they are still behind the coach’s every move and they still respect him. When Cade Burton 10 was asked if he liked the methods his coach used for the team he replied, “Yeah it’s pretty effective, he makes you work for your position. He doesn’t just put you there if you’re a senior, he puts the best players on no matter the grade.”

When Hysell was asked the same thing he replied, “Yeah, he’s a great coach. He has a great way of coaching us although he sometimes messes up, but we’re all human right? But overall, he’s a great coach. He is very effective and by the end of the season, he unites the entire team until we’re like brothers.” Arneson made a similar comment, “He is a good coach for the most part, but when we don’t know what play to run, we just run a play the other team already knows, so we could improve on that; but he is a good coach.”

Although the team may haven’t done well this season, the fans and students reportedly have a enjoy watching the games. “Yeah, I enjoy them. You can watch football, hang out with friends, and just have a good time.” Caleb Duke 9 said. Although the players might not enjoy losing, the students enjoy watching the games nonetheless. The parents still cheer their players on no matter what the score.

On game day, Lewis-Palmer Football went against the Woodland Park Panthers. The comfort of being home could have contributed to Lewis-Palmer’s win. They ended up taking the win with a jaw dropping score of 44 -7. The crowd cheered for the team while the players celebrated the win by singing the fight song as a group in front of the stands.
