On the first Monday of February in 2018, Deputy Micah Flick was shot and killed in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Flick lived by his wife and together they raised two seven-year-old twins. Flick was born Aug. 20, 1983, and lived until Monday, Feb 5, 2018. The Monday Flick left was his eleventh year anniversary on the force for the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. The Colorado Springs Police Chief Pete Carey said at a press conference that they responded to a motor theft and struggled with the suspect and shots were fired around 4 p.m.  During the suspect, Manuel Zetina attempt to flee he also was shot and killed, he was 19.

Colorado Springs Police Department officer Marcus Yanez and Thomas Villanueva were the officers that also were wounded. A civilian was caught in the crossfire and is also is expected to make a full recovery.  But Flick isn’t going to make a full recovery. Local businesses are helping Flicks family. Two breweries are giving one dollar to flicks family for every drink they sell. Even some of the officer’s wives are selling T-Shirts and giving everything they make to flicks foundation and Flicks family. Needless to say, the state helps as much as they can to support flick and his family.

Flick grew up as a normal child, he played any sport he could and he was quite good at them too. He grew up in a Christian household as a member of the New Life Church. His memory was honored at his childhood church, and every police officer from Colorado Springs dressed in their full blue uniforms. Even officers from the east coast came to the funeral. A dark cloud was held above them as flick was honored.

Deputy Micah Flick was an inspiration to the El Paso County Sheriff’s office. He is going to live in the hearts of the entire County and he will be remembered by his family.  His pasteur mentioned that “losing Flick was devastating and unfair and a huge loss of the city and a huge loss for everyone who loved him. Flick is going to be remembered by all who loved him and worked with him.”
