On the Field with Nick Pavlik

Nick Pavlik, 12, drives away from three Florence football players as they try to take him down for the tackle during Friday nights Homecoming football game. Pavlik is known best for the number of touchdowns he scores during the football games. He has been playing football for five years and plays it because he enjoys the sport. Pavlik also plays hockey for Lewis-Palmer High School. He plays running back on the field and leads the team as captain.

Pavlik does his best to keep the team motivated when the game is getting tough.

“Basically I tell them we have to work hard and just keep our heads up when we’re losing or when it’s not going our way,” said Pavlik.

The team so far is 2-1 and is now 3-1 after Friday’s Homecoming game against Florence High School. Scoring is Nick’s favorite part of the game because of how it feels to get a touchdown. When Nick started playing high school football his freshman year, he looked up to Levi Patrick because Levi was talented and already such an inspiration to the team beforehand.

Pavlik has a lot of goals for the team this year, but his main concern is state.

“My goals for myself are to break records and for the team to go to state,” Pavlik said.

Although Nick Pavlik is a senior this year, he still has not decided if he wants to continue playing football in the future.
