The Pro Bowl is a game played in the NFL, the week before the SuperBowl. The teams change from each player getting drafted onto a team, or AFC vs NFC. This year it is AFC vs NFC. The players on the team are usually the best at their position.

You would think that if all the best players in the league people would watch, but sometimes they’re not even the best players for that position.  There are a few reasons why the players would not be the best.  The number one reason is that some of the players that were offered a spot, denied it, for multiple reasons, one being having an injury.  The second is that the player that they really wanted is going to be in the super bowl and can’t risk getting hurt. With some of the best players not going, the game no longer is just the best of the best competing with each other.

They are trying to fix this problem this year by showing the new events such as team dodgeball where the  players played a few round of dodgeball and whoever won the most was considered the winner. The winner for this years dodgeball game was the AFC team. The drone catch, where a drone goes up a few hundred feet and drops a football, whoever catches the ball the highest. Jarvis landry from the AFC team won from a catch 120 feet in the air. These events have brought some more audience, and has made the Pro Bowl more entertaining to watch. Especially to Carson Trumpold 10 who said,

“ I did like how they added things, especially the best catch one. That  was cool to see all of top receivers compete to see who really has the best hands.”`

The problem with this game is that people watch it, but as Carson trumpold said,

“it’s just not that exciting.”

Players don’t play hard because it’s a meaningless game and they don’t want to get hurt. And getting hurt playing a meaningless game would not be a good thing at all.  They really don’t even tackle one another. They mainly just shove each other out of bounds, or sometimes just will pick the other player up, and set him on the ground.

None of the players actually care about the outcome of the game. It’s just an outlet for the top players to get a little recognition. It’s almost just a way to let some of the players show off their individual skills. It’s just a fun way to end the season. In other sports such as baseball, the All Star game, the equivalent of the Pro Bowl, decides on who will get home field advantage the National League team or American League team.
