The University of Arizona fears losing their number one ranking

The University of Arizona’s Basketball team has been one of the best teams in the nation for the past twenty-nine years.  This all started with coach Lute Olson taking them to the NCAA Season 1984-1985 and them going every season since then.

Keeping the record of them being one of the best basketball teams in the nation, they started this season out great, beating California Polytechnic State University on November 8, 2013, before the official season even started.

Staying undefeated they play Stanford and won 60-57 January 27, 2014. That was a game that everyone was definitely on the edge of their seat watching. The one game they were told they would lose. A lot of people were going against the Wildcats, thinking they might actually lose their number one title after that game.

When they beat Stanford, more people than before started to believe that the Arizona wildcats would hold their number one title until the NCAA. Maybe even become the National champions of this season.

On February 1, 2014 when the Wildcats had their sixth away game of the season, they played the California Golden bears in Berkeley, California many “fans” of the Arizona Wildcats started to doubt their chance of becoming the NCAA champions. After a close game between the two teams, California shot the winning basket in the last 40 seconds of the game, making themselves the first team of the season to beat Arizona.

After this unexpected defeat, the Wildcats are now 21-1 causing them to fear them losing their number one title. Once they put scores up and compared Wildcats and Syracuse, they realized that they did get nicked down a place in the Ap top 25, making them number two in the nation.
