Lewis-Palmer students achieve accolades in hockey

The Gazette recently recognized many Lewis-Palmer students for having outstanding performance in hockey. The boys hockey team worked hard this season and many Lewis-Palmer high school students received all conference and all state recognition.

“All State” is recognition by the Associated Press, local papers, or a web site that an athlete as one of the best in the state at their sport or position, and “All Conference” is recognition that an athlete is one of the best in the conference at their sport or position. Hard work, determination, and skill are all required to get your spot as an All State or All Conference player, congratulations to all who succeeded.

Julian Claudio was on the Gazette All Area first team and the Peak Conference All Conference first team. Julian also made the All State first team and was also named the Peak Performer Hockey Player of the Year.

“It feels good to get recognition after a good season with the team,” senior Julian Claudio said, “it took hard work, dedication, focus, and mental toughness to get here.”

Casey McMullin was on the Gazette All Area first team and on the Peak Conference All Conference second team.

Dmitri Smith was on the Peak Conference All Conference first team and the Gazette All Area first team. Dmitri also made All State Honorable Mention. Andrew Karnes was also on the Gazette All Area first team and the Peak Conference Honorable Mention.

Lewis-Palmer students took four of the six 1st team slots on the Gazette All Area first team, congratulations to everyone who made the team.  AJ Schaefer was on the Gazette All Area second team and he made the Peak Conference Honorable Mention.

Taylor Hill, Dustin Jones, and Marcus Smith were all on the Gazette All Area Honorable Mention. Taylor Hill and Dustin Jones were also on the Peak Conference Honorable Mention. Head Coach Hal Jordan was named Coach of the Year, as well.

Congratulations for a great season, great games, great achievements, and recognition received by other coaches in the conference and around the state.
