Rebuilding a Franchise from the ground up

Last year the Philadelphia 76ers had a win loss record of 10-72. The team was riddled with injuries with their best player Joel Embiid, starting center, was out with another foot injury. With the Sixers going 10-72, they were guaranteed the first overall pick in the 2016 NBA first players draft. With this pick the Sixers selected Ben Simmons, a 6’ 10” forward that came from the college of Louisiana State University.

Unfortunately the curse of the Sixers still lives on with Ben Simmons injuring his foot in a off season workout session. Sixers fans and staff were heart broken that their number one pick again injures himself, but starting center Joel Embiid. The 7’ 0” center that originated from Cameroon took the league with full force. Embiid has lead this team to an even better record than they had all season last year just within the month of January.

Within the month of January the Sixers went 10-5, already beating their record from their entire season last year. Last time the Sixers made the playoffs was the season of 2010-11. They went to the division round and lost to the trio of Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics. Soon with trade rumors with Jahlil Okafor to the Chicago getting more young talents and draft picks, it is predicted that the Philadelphia 76ers will make their first playoff appearance in more than seven years.

It is no fault that the Sixers have been playing better and better with breakout stars of Joel Embiid, Nerlens Noel and T.J. McConnell. With coaching under Brett Brown and trusting his judgement the Sixers have a bright future ahead of them. The organization has come out with the hashtag #trusttheprocess, and it seems that the patient fans of the city of brotherly love can wait with hopes of a NBA championship closing in on their line of sight.
