Apple Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted that, due to limited demand, Apple will Discontinue the iPhone X line at the end of the summer right when the next line of iPhones are released. There has been a surprisingly low demand for the iPhone X especially in China, where they can’t seem to get used to the “notch” at the top of the screen. The only iPhone to ever be discontinued within the first year is the iPhone 5 which was only discontinued because Apple didn’t want to lower the price of it. All iPhones before the 6s have been discontinued just due to age.

It makes sense that they would discontinue it so soon. If they didn’t it could strongly affect the sales of the next generation of iPhones. Since the iPhone X is the most innovative and advanced iPhone to date, people will see the price decline and go with the less expensive iPhone X rather than the new, more expensive option. There are rumored to be three new iPhones coming this fall. First is a slightly less expensive and slightly lower spec version of the current lineup of phones from Apple, but with an LCD screen instead of OLED. OLED screens are better and more efficient than LCD screens because OLED screens have individually lit pixels which, when partnered with a black wallpaper can help conserve battery life.The second phone is basically the second coming of the iPhone X but with all new specs and an upgraded camera. The last iPhone coming out this year is an iPhone X plus. The iPhone X Plus is a larger iPhone with a 6.5-inch screen rather than a 5.8-inch screen such as that found on the current iPhone X.

The cheaper iPhone is rumored to be losing some features in order to have a lower price tag than the other two phones. It will have a single camera rather than a dual camera lens like the ones found on both the iPhone X and iPhone 7 and 8 plus models. It will lose the 3D touch feature found on every iPhone since the 7. It will have one less gigabyte of DRAM (down from 4 to 3.) Lastly, it will have an aluminum frame compared to the stainless steel frame on the rest of the phones.

All of these are, of course, just rumors. Although Kuo is one of the most successful and reputable Apple Analysts in the world and has been called “The Most Accurate Apple Analyst in the world” and “The Analyst Who Reveals all of Apple’s Secrets” some think that Ming-Chi Kuo could be wrong. Everyone will have to wait and see what Apple has in store for the world in 2018
