Favorite T.V shows take away students school work progress

Many of the new and upcoming T.V shows have students hooked. Many of these programs have students preoccupied with things other than their homework.

To do, or not to do. That is the question when it comes to students’ doing their homework during weekdays in conflict with their favorite T.V shows. We students know that school work is important and T.V during the weekday is very scarce, but what happens when a student’s favorite T.V show threatens to take away school work time?

So what does one do when homework and studying time crosses paths with your television programs? “I can’t miss my shows. I have to watch them every week to keep up on what’s going on.” Junior Rachel Newhart said. “I just have to quit whatever I’m doing.”

Some students are forced with having to quit their homework or studying, just to watch T.V. Some are even distracted long enough to not even to start their homework again, even long after the T.V. show is over. Unfortunately it can be very easy for young people to get caught in the cycle of putting their favorite shows in front of their school work.

“I have to watch my show first, and then I will finish my work when the show is over. It’s just easier to focus on one thing at a time.” Newhart said.

While T.V continues to dominate some student’s plans, others are trying to stay on top of their work in school and they can’t afford to have any distractions. T.V just isn’t on the top of their priority list. Students who have AP classes or extracurricular activities don’t have time for such distractions.

While it’s easy to drop everything and watch T.V there are other options. “You can always just record your show when it comes on and just watch it later. So you can have all your studying time and still not miss your show” Senior Landon Abernathy said.

Weather students decide to do their homework before or after television it’s still their decision on whether or not they want to keep watching. While a T.V show lasts for a couple of minutes, everyone still has to go back to school the next day with the homework they did or didn’t do.
