Students are working hard in class but most cannot wait for summer to start.

As the end of the school year approaches most students are excited that the summer is coming and soon school and homework will be no more. Due to this excitement students are mentally checking out from their classes and not paying as much attention as they should to their end of the year school work.

“It’s hard to focus on schoolwork when all you can think about is summer.” Junior Desli Pascoe. “You want to pay attention but you also want the homework to stop too.”

Just because the school year is nearing an end doesn’t mean the hard work is over in classes. While projects and finals still coming up it is entirely possible to still fail any classes that may have a lower grade percentage.

“You have to do well on the final exams because their worth so much of your grade. If you fail you can go from passing to flunking just like that.” Pascoe said.

While school classes don’t end until May 25th for most students, there’s almost a good month worth of school left. That month can either make or break student’s grades. When this time of year comes around this is the chance and opportunity for students to get their missing assignments in and raise their grade before they jump into their final exam.

“Missing assignments always really hurt your grade and it’s good to get them in before the deadline so you can have a good grade going into finals. It’s always hard to work against missing assignments that you might have.” Pascoe said.

While final exams are important, some classes have final projects that are worth just as much as the final exam. Some students prefer these types of finals because it doesn’t require any studying or memorization.

“Projects are nice because you can let your creative side come out and there’s not as much preparation for it than there is for a final exam on the scantrons.” Pascoe said.

Whatever the case is with student’s finals it’s always important to stay focused and study hard.
