Though the year has barely started, the fashion has been a mixture of timeless styles and new, fun trends. Designer favorites include grunge, a polished fifties inspired look, ‘barely there’ makeup, ombré hair and mix matched nails.

“I love the grunge look, it’s cute and almost anyone can do it. And I love that we’re classing up our style, trash is out.” sophomore Shana Kucharek said.

Kucharek is definitely up to date on the trends, because one of the biggest trends now is modest outfits with a dark twist. Collared shirts, combat boots, studs, and high – rise bottoms are some of the biggest trends people should try out this season.

There are some crazy new hair trends this year also. There are many celebrities sporting these new looks, like Miley Cyrus’s mega short hair with shaved sides. Another huge new trend is hued hair; Kelly Osbourne is the perfect example of lavender hair done right.

The most versatile hair for most girls to wear is the ombré hairstyle, seen on stars like Mila Kunis and Khloé Kardashian- Odom, which is where a girl’s hair is dark on top and gets lighter at the ends.

“I like it, and it’s different, but I would never do it to my hair,” freshman Kimmy Loidolt said about ombré hair.

Less is more – The ‘barely there’ makeup trend is back. Everyone wants to see your true beauty. Model Cara Delevingne is the perfect example of this look. She rocks her defined brows and big features by laying off on the makeup and playing up her fashion.

“I love the Wildfox and the Pull & Bear websites.” senior Savannah Lewis said.
