Lewis-Palmer keeps it classy at Cheyenne Mountain

Friday, February 8 the students of Lewis-Palmer buzz with excitement over the big game happening that night. The Ranger boys’ basketball team traveled to Cheyenne Mountain High School and trampled on the Indians, winning 47-34.
The first half of the game was intense and left the crowd on their toes. After halftime, the Ranger team picked up the pace and began to shut out the Indians. Senior Justin Smith led the Rangers, scoring 16 points during the game. More LP students went to the away game at Cheyenne Mountain than any other away game.
“It’s a big game because they are a challenging team and they are a big rival,” Rowdy Rangers adviser Mr. Miller said.
LP students love going to games between the two schools. The games tend to be exciting and intense. The rivalry between the two schools really sparked when LP and CM played each other in the state volleyball finals.
“The second game against Cheyenne Mountain wasn’t as intense as the first game because we already knew we were going to win.” senior Nathan Conner said.
Conner says that both teams are good and that is a big part of why they have become a rival.
“I think that their crowd is rude and they are not as classy as Lewis-Palmer fans,” Mr. Miller said.
As the LP boys basketball team continues to progress to the state championship, LP students plan on supporting the Rangers at all games. Keep it classy LP.
