Colorado Sheriffs are not happy with gun control
April 18, 2013
Recently, Colorado passed several new gun control laws that many are not pleased about. These laws include a background check for all purchases of guns, limited ammunition, and “magazines”. However, Colorado residents are allowed to carry an unloaded or loaded concealed weapon in a vehicle or at home
Thirty-seven out of the state’s sixty-two sheriffs are planning to file a law suit claiming that the new laws violate everyone’s constitutional rights. According to Fox news, almost all of the Colorado Springs and Denver sheriff departments are very unhappy.
“It’s an injustice against our citizens,” stated the El Paso County Sheriff’s department according to foxnews.com.
Many of the sheriffs believe that the new gun laws will not only help protect against criminals from getting a weapon, but will affect the law-abiding citizens, leaving them without any means to protect themselves.
No matter how many laws they make, criminals will get their hands on weapons.
The lawsuit against the new state laws will be held on July 1st,2013.
