Many Lewis-Palmer students think Monument is a town where going to Wal-Mart is the most exciting thing to do and with summer around the corner, that is a problem. During the summer students want to do more than hang around their homes and town. Here are a few summer activities that will make your summer one to remember.
Get some friends together and go for a hike. Summers in Colorado are beautiful so go outside and explore. The boulder fields in Palmer Lake are fun to climb and walk around. Once at the top, enjoy the beautiful view of the mountains.
With Denver only a 40 minute drive up the highway, there is so much to do. One can go to Six Flags, the aquarium, Water World, or walk around 16th street mall. Any day that one may choose to spend in Denver will be a fun one.
Manitou Springs is also a close get away for Monument locals. Spending a day there is easy. Walk around the little town, visit the penny arcades, or explore graffiti falls.
The most exciting thing to do during the summer is to take a day trip into the mountains. Pack a lunch and bring some friends along during this two hour drive to Paradise Falls. This 40-foot waterfall is located off of a mile trail near Woodland Park. The falls plunge into a large pool and to the left of it is the perfect place to cliff jump into the pool. Friends can hang out, relax under the tree and eat, then jump into the pool. On a hot day, it is the perfect way to stay cool and the thrill of jumping in is unforgettable.
Don’t sit inside this summer LP. Get out and explore all the things that Colorado has to offer, it will make this summer the best summer before school starts again in the fall.
